Every act of kindness matters, every donation counts

Have you heard about how our Flower Fund supports our Welcome Home Honors Program? Imagine having a family member or friend that was reported POW/MIA in WWII and not knowing what happened to them and then one day getting that call.

The US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) works with the families of MIAs to do DNA analysis on remains recently discovered. Once identified, the family can finally welcome their veteran home for a burial.

For years, the Heritage League has maintained a detailed spreadsheet of those from the 2nd Air Division who are listed on Walls of the Missing at the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) overseas cemeteries, thanks to HL researcher and past president Brian Mahoney. We call this program our Welcome Home Honors Program.

At least one Heritage League member has attended memorial ceremonies for each of the
repatriated remains of the 2nd Air Division airmen during 2023 and 2024. For anyone who has attended these burials, you know that there was a sense of relief that the families had closure and we were honored to have witnessed such an amazing event.

Starting in 2024, the Heritage League Flower Fund has provided floral tributes for each of these ceremonies. It is our way of showing how grateful we are for their sacrifice and ensure the family they were not forgotten.

The Heritage League also uses the Flower Fund to lay flowers each Memorial Day at 13 cemeteries across Europe to honor those approximately 7,000 heroes that never came home.

Our goal is $5,000 for the Flower Fund. That enables us to continue our work each year but we can’t do it without you.

Here is how you can help us:

  • Mark December 2nd on your calendar and make a gift (of course donations are welcome anytime)
  • Share our campaign with family and friends
