5. Normandy hotel reservation
Reservations extended to May 10, 2023.
The Normandy booking process is different from typical hotel reservations. We encourage you to submit your form as soon as possible as there is a limited number of rooms available in some categories.
There are two hotels: Churchill Hotel and Hotel Bayeux Reine Mathilde, about a 5-minute walk apart.
The cost for the hotel for four nights including breakfast daily based on current availability and which hotel you choose is:: $737 or $966 for a Single and $829 or $935 per person for a Double.
Both Normandy hotels require that we (the convention organizers) submit a rooming list and full payment for the entire group, in one transaction.
Follow this procedure to reserve:
- Contact RALPH WINTER at rewcts@gmail.com.
Mr. Winter will explain the availability and cost of rooms that meet your occupancy needs. After he has verified that the category of room is available and reserves it for you, he will send you an invoice. - Send a check or money order, payable to The Heritage League, to:
Susan Risley
682 Slade Ave
Elgin, IL 60120
You can also pay by credit card or PayPal using this form. There is an additional service fee of $15.00 to cover online fees to us.
We know this is cumbersome, but it is what the Normandy hotels require!
6. Flight arrangements
You will need to make your own travel arrangements. There are several ways to get to Norwich. KLM has a flight that includes a short connector hop to Norwich via Amsterdam with major US airlines. The common alternative is to fly into London and take the train or bus to Norwich. For the adventurous, one could rent a car and drive the distance. Better choice is to hire a car and driver to get you to Norwich. People have indicated that they might want to travel with others. If you are traveling single and are interested in traveling and sharing a room with someone, please let us know and we will get you connected.
If you are adding the Normandy trip, you might consider flying home from Paris. There is train service between Bayeux to Paris city center and Charles de Gaulle airport.
7. Travel insurance
Travel insurance is highly recommended. Attendees are responsible for finding your own travel insurance. Most travel insurers require that you pay for coverage very soon after your first payment for your trip – especially if you want pre-existing conditions covered. The “hold my place” non-committal deposit of $50.00 that you have made should not count as your first payment. You can visit these websites to shop for insurance: Insert this link
