The 2017 Heritage League Reunion and Business Meeting will be held in New Orleans, LA. The Executive Committee membership is up for election and new candidates are welcome to put their names in for consideration. This year's reunion and annual business meeting is being held in conjunction with the Eighth Air Force Historical Society's annual reunion in New Orleans, LA starting September 27, 2017 thru October 1, 2017.
The following links will take you to the various activities:
Reunion Schedule - This link will take you to an Adobe PDF document describing the schedule of events over the five days of the reunion
Reunion Registration - This link will allow you to register for the event and all of the activities that are scheduled. Important Note: For Heritage League members who are registering this way, there is a field where you enter your bomb group affiliation. If you're with say the 453rd Bomb Group, please indicate by marking the box as 453, Heritage League. This will allow the organizers to seat you with other Heritage League members at the Banquet and Rendezvous Dinner.
Hotel Information - This link will take you to an Adobe PDF document describing the hotel accommodations, rates, and location.Important Note: For Heritage League members who plan on attending, it is highly recommended that you make your hotel arrangements as soon as possible. There are a limited number of rooms that have been requested by the organizers and once those are gone, you will be staying at designated overflow hotels. If you are in one of the overflow hotels, do not purchase the meal plan as transportation is not guaranteed for the Group breakfasts.
Direct Hotel Booking - This link will take you directly to the Hilton New Orleans Airport where you can book reservations for the reunion. To get the special rate for the reunion, when you enter that dates you will be staying, look for an option to enter a specialty code and use the code AFH. That will get you the $129 a night room rate established for those attending the activities.
Tours of New Orleans - Along with all of the military activities associated with the reunion, there is plenty to see in historic New Orleans. Of a military nature is the National World War II Museum where two dining activities will be held. Tours will be available on Thursday and Friday (Sept 28/29). On Saturday, September 20th you have your choice of either the city tour through the French Quarter or the plantation tour through Oak Alley, built in 1839.
Update April 26, 2017
Due to the large turn out, the Hilton has already sold out of rooms for the reunion dates. Donna Lee, Armed Forces Reunions, Inc. (AFR) is currently taking names for a rooming list at the Best Western Plus – a new hotel, about 1.5 miles from the Hilton. It’s a cheaper rate at $109+tax/night and includes complimentary breakfast, airport shuttle, and parking. Both hotels will help shuttle folks back and forth as much as possible. The tour buses will pick up from both hotels. Folks confirmed at the overflow hotel should NOT sign up for a meal package since there is free breakfast at the Best Western. People can purchase the separately priced dinners.
Our first priority is to get as many WWII Veterans moved back over to the Hilton when cancellations occur. If there are still rooms that become available as the reunion approaches, we’ll simply go in date order for the non-veterans.
AFR will contact people approximately 4-6 weeks before the reunion to reconfirm the reservation and obtain the credit card info at that time to guarantee the room. For now, Donna will need the following, preferably emailed to DonnaLee@afri.com for a paper trail:
Name for the room reservation
Specific bed type preferred (not guaranteed)
Is the attendee a WWII Veteran?
If you are holding a room at the Hilton that’s no longer needed, please do NOT cancel it directly with the Hilton. We urge you to email Donna at AFR (DonnaLee@afri.com) the name, confirmation number, and dates for her to cancel it. This way, we can ensure that the room stays in our block and used by someone wanting to be at the Hilton. Donna will request a name change and obtain new credit card info for the guarantee. She’s already helped several veterans obtain rooms at the Hilton through this process. If necessary, Donna can be reached by phone at 706-356-1905. Thanks for your cooperation, and thanks for helping another veteran!
